Sorry it’s taken so long, but there wasn’t much response first of all. Some of the items are a bit out dated now but we hope you enjoy reading what’s been going on.

Hello to everyone reading this, hope you are well and enjoying life.  I am still working in the salon 3 days a week, working with nails, tanning and hair!  I have three weeks left at college and then I will be a qualified Junior Hair Stylist!!  Yippee!  Still really enjoying it, although today was a bit mad to say the least... I had a client in for a perm, so 15 mins before the appointment, I double checked we had the correct perm, but NO, it was the wrong type, so had to nip to the wholesalers and get the correct one.  Client came in, all going well, winding the perm rods in the hair, then... ran out of perm papers!!  Had to leave the client in the chair, nip to Boots and replenish, got back on track, all going well.  Whilst rinsing at the basin, I asked her if she could keep her neck firmly into the recess and asked if she could feel any water dripping down her neck, to which she replied no, only to find that after thoroughly rinsing hair for 5 mins, not only was her neck wet, but also her top, wet through, and her skirt, wet through AND HER KNICKERS.. SOAKING!!  Luckily, she is an existing client who knows I am training and is more than happy to be my dummy!  We laughed and laughed until it hurt and she did see the funny side of it!  I dried her clothes off with the hairdryer before blow-drying her hair, and guess what.. She was chuffed to bits with her perm!!  Today was a learning curve and I vowed to never do another perm in my life, but hey, can't let it beat me!!

I am currently having a beauty room at home built, which I am so excited about!!  Calum is working in it every evening and it's progressing very well.  Hope to be up and running by end of July, the sooner the better as my house is getting over taken with beauty equipment!

Well I think that's enough from me, look forward to reading all about

you guys soon.

Take care

Claire

I am still working hard as a Housewife, mother and gambler!! I have been working on the betting exchanges for a while now. Most days things go well and then I have some bad days. It fits in with the boys, the housework and of course sun bathing.

I took up Choi Kwang Do (newish martial art) in February and have just passed my first grading along with my youngest Owen. I know some of you know that Del is a Black belt and has set up two Choi schools and teaches it. His schools are in Winchester and Hayling. He is planning on a new school in September in Shirley, Nr Southampton.

Liam also passed his Black Belt grading in March. He is one of the youngest in the country. The boys are doing really well at school and are very happy. We have a stroll along the beach as often as we can, it’s just so easy to take the five minute walk from the house down to the beach instead of getting in the car and driving for an hour.

I have met up with some of the girls recently and they all looked great  even those still working for Hays!!

Phil Anderson –

I’m still on the coaches, and away a lot of the time touring. Recently I returned from Andorra Spain.

Sheila Axton –

I am still a lady of leisure but am applying for jobs at present. I like being at home but really miss the girls and all the chitchat we had at mission control.

A while ago I bumped into Amanda Sands and her little girl called Chloe who is now 10 months old. Amanda had just returned to work after her maternity leave. She also told me that Rebecca Lloyd had a little boy in March weighing over 9lb.

There is not really much more to report, nothing planned for holidays as yet, but I have got two tickets for Wimbledon this year, which I am highly delighted about. That was all down to Rae Ewenson when she got me the form from Wimbledon last year. So thank you very much Rae.

Update:- Sheila is now working in a solicitors office in Guildford

First of all the flattery: brilliantly done Karen and Claire for getting Hays Reunited together and keeping us all in touch - I, for one, am delighted to hear everyone's news from time to time. So, thank you both very much!

As for my own news, well, there have been many 'silver linings' on moving on from Hays: I've seen far more of, and have had far more time for, my two sons than I could ever have dreamed of when I had an 80 mile commute on the M25 to Guildford each week-day.  At this time in their lives (adolesence for one and A levels for the other!) that has been very important for us as a family.  Next, being 'time-rich' for the first time in decades, I joined a golf club - at my humble level it's still easy to make great advances and improvements in my game (there aren't many sports, or anything else come to think of it, where I can still do that!) - so that is, at least occasionally, a source of huge satisfaction.  Finally, I am now in the second year with Michael Beaver Pension Services ("practical help with running corporate pension schemes" which I set up within a couple of weeks of leaving Hays.  mbps comprises not much more than a name, an e-mail address, and some contacts but it does have, most importantly, a decent client!  The first year was good, but I expect the second year to be slower - more time for golf and travel, then!

All in all things have worked out pretty well up to now - if it all falls flat on its face right now then I'll just retire and send the kids out to work!

All the best to everyone!

Michael

Graham Williams

Not much news from the Williams family. However in retirement I am busier than when at Hays !

Neil Mc Lachlan and I had lunch with Stephen Charnock the other day. He is having a ball lecturing and giving tutorials to law students whose average age is about 23 and 80% of whom are girls

My son Alex is now on the way to the North Pole in a race ( www.polarrace.com) against 5 other teams. He has been training for weeks pulling 3 car tires round Hyde park to simulate pulling a heavy sledge ! They have to ski/walk 350 miles in temperatures of minus 20C to minus 40C. Apparently the main danger is from hungry polar bears so Alex has a gun.

All the best

 Graham

I will update you when I have something positive to report! Still job hunting, a few irons in the fire.

Madeleine Davis

I’m not bored yet.  We have been to France a couple of times and are so pleased with the work we have had done to the cottage.  I am going there in May for a week with a friend who also has a place in France, hopefully to improve upon our French.

 Hi all,

I think summer has finally arrived here in Spain....I spent all of yesterday lazing on my balcony reading a book and taking in the burning sun! I'm a slight shade of pink today though!!! Ooops!

Luke and I moved house about 3 weeks ago to a lovely brand new 2 bed

townhouse. Bit of a step up from a 2 bed flat! It’s very very

spacious......on the first level there is a large kitchen, 1 toilet and a large lounge with open fire place and a lovely long balcony. Then downstairs there is the main bedroom with massive ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobes(!!), along the hall there is a spare room and bathroom and below all that there is a vast garage which can easily fit 5 cars in it!!! My first reaction to the garage was "wow, think of the parties we can have down here!!!!" At the side of the garage is a very private terrace and at the front of the house is a big patio where we can have lots of bbq's!! and judging by the weather that will be happening pretty soon.

Amongst all that chaos I have purchased a new, well 3 year old, car!

Finally!! My poor little fiat uno has pretty much reached her last days and is struggling to get me to and from Gibraltar. However, I cant complain as shes done me proud and got me to Spain over a year and a half ago and has kept going since!! Im now a true Spaniard and have joined ranks with the left hand drivers! I haven’t exactly gone up in car size as my new car is a Ford KA, i'm driving a bubble!! Still, it just about fits my bike in so what more do you need.

I’m still working for the same company, i've been here over a year now. Can't quite believe it. The boss is a bit of a Hitler....nothing like good old Nige!!

It was so lovely to read everyone's news in the last update. Congrats to all those that got married. Must say, Phil's news nearly made me fall off my chair! Great news though.

I hope everyone is well and happy.

 Love

 Amy

Hedley Jones

 Hi Guys,

Still waiting for child number 3. We are currently at the "mummy hasn't slept in ages so neither has daddy" stage of pregnancy. Due date is April 30th so with luck we'll be there soon. We thought this one should be called "Bingo" on account of the fact that we'll have a full house afterwards. Belinda wants a girl (of course) but Cameron reckons that "that will just be even more trouble", and I am probably inclined to agree if Belinda's "terrible two's" is anything to go by.

Apart from the impending birth, all other Joneses are well and happy. Jo is working selected weekends at Brighton Intensive Care Unit and I am still with Q8 Aviation in Woking. The house extension still isn't finished as the builders did a runner last July having spent all the money under the ever-watchful eye of the architect (!). If anybody knows of a hit-man who specialises in summary castration and execution rubbish builders and blind architects then drop me a line.... Now that we've fitted the kitchen, heating, plumbing and flooring ourselves we're just down to finishing work, so the silver lining is in sight at last - just in time for the mother-in-law to visit again, I suppose.

It is nice to hear everybody else's news after nearly 4 1/2 years since leaving Hays. I hope all is going well for you all, and look forward to hearing from anybody who cares to drop me a line.

Sorry haven't answered before, have just got back from visiting Italy with some friends. The 4 of us took turns in driving so we enjoyed the beautiful views and it was great not having to get back for work by a certain date so we took a few days longer coming back not having booked anywhere, we stayed in Stygian for a week at our friends villa and really enjoyed it, although it did rain every now and again, never mind it was still delightful.

I did send Claire an email at the end of last year just before the magazine came out, but I guess it was a bit late as she had lost my original email, ask her if she still has it and if not I'll rewrite it.

Still only 3 grandchildren but I think no 4 won't be too long, we'll see, Nick seems to want another two but Michele needs a bit of persuasion. Can't say I blame her.

We are over in the UK at the end of July to see them all and am really excited, bet you never thought I would say that!

Glad to hear all is well at your end. Let me know how it goes with Claire.

 Love Judy

Eve Leisk

For those of you who remember Eve (receptionist).

Eve is living in Australia. She is out there for about a year but could be longer. She is a lady of leisure at the moment and enjoying doing the sight seeing and exploring her new surroundings (especially the shops). She is still looking as fabulous as ever.  She has a grandson called James who will be two in September.

Well we hope you have enjoyed reading what’s been going on and if you would like to contribute to the next issue please do not hesitate to email Claire or myself.

Enjoy Life and take care
