Henry W. Bicknell was adopted by Augusta's second husband Sewell Hubbard. He lived on Hamilto n Street Peoria Township, IL in the 1900 Census.

He started out as a salesman for Beach Nut in the mid 1930's. During WWII he served in the U S Navy as a storekeeper aboard the LST 540. After the war, he worked for the Internal Revenu e Servise, retireing at the age of 53. He then worked as the executive secretary for the Rock land, ME Chamber of Commerce.

He owned and operated Austin's Trailer Park in on Forest Ave. Orono, ME after WWII.
He was a self employed fabricator of prosthetic equipment after selling the trailer park.
He later worked for Bangor Hydro Electric Co. until his retirement.

He farmed about 120 acres on Essex St. in Bangor, ME after his marriage to Loantha in 1838. T he farm was completely destroyed in a forest fire in July of 1864. His health was seriously h armed fighting the fire and he was never able to do a full days work again. He sold the far m land and remaining stock in October 1865 and moved to Belvidere, IL to be near his second w ife's family. He bought a farm in partnership with his brother in law. He developed cataract s and by 1883 was completely blind. After the death of his second wife in 1890 he moved to Ro ckland, ME where his son Fred and Fred's wife Helen cared for him until his death. He applie d for a Civil War pension based on his son Benjamin F. Bicknell being killed in action durin g the war. The pension was denied until a change in the law made him eligable and he was awar ded a pension of $17.00 per month starting September 29, 1897 and continuing untill his death .

She was awarded a civil war widows pension #57323 of $8.00 per month starting 12/31/1864 an d continuing to 04/30/1868 the date of her remarriage. She lived in Stetson, Maine during thi s period.
Upon the death of her second husband she was awarded a civil war widows pension #655483 of $8 .00 per month until her death in 1907. She lived at 24 Prentiss St. in Bangor, Maine during t his period of her life. The house was valued at $900.00 in 1897.

[NI9356] Elizabeth Catherine Hunt Pechousek was raised by her mother Marion Elizabeth Maher Hunt as her "adopted" daughter in the little town of Antioch, IL. Later her mother married Thomas Pechousek who adopted Elizabeth Catherine when she was about 14 (~1953). When Elizabeth Catherine was 35 (1974) her mother told her that she, Marion Elizabeth Maher Hunt Pechousek Bicknell, and George Raymond Bicknell were her natural parents.

"Death of Morgan Gibney"
Morgan Gibney, sixty-four years old, died Monday at his home, 525 Forest avenue. He had been an invalid for five years and his death was not unexpected. He was once a famous actor and theatrical manager and traveled over the United States for many years. He retried only when failing health compelled him to abandon his profession.
Mrs. Gibney died four years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. O. M. Bicknell and a seven year old son. Mrs. Bicknell, who was Miss Marian Gibney, is a singer and actress of ability. Rev. A. H. Armstrong conducted the funeral services Wednesday at the residence. Interment was at Forest Home.

JOHN W. ALVORD, 82, WHO HELPED BUILD CITY, DIES Engineer on Suburban Work and '93 Fair.

Services for John Watson Alvord, pioneer Chicago engineer who died yesterday at his summer home in Douglas, Mich., after a brief illness, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Oak Woods cemetery chapel, 67th street and Greenwood avenue.
Mrs. Alvord, who was 82 years old, was senior member of the engineering firm of Alvord, Burdick and Howson of Chicago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucy Bicknell Alvord.
Helped Build 1893 Fair.
He was one of the last of the city engineers who designed the public improvements for large suburban areas which now constitute a substantial part of Chicago, including Lake View, the old town of Cicero, still partly suburban, and Hyde Park.
After annexation f these areas to Chicago in the late '80s, Mr. Alvord organized and conducted for the Columbian exposition the surveys which coordinated and located most of the buildings that comprised the famous "White City."
Camp Grant Engineer.
He served Chicago as a member of the Merriam commission in 1910 and was a member of the flood commission for Dayton, O., after the 1913 flood. During World War I, he was supervising engineer at Camp Grant.
Mr. Alvord was past president of the American Water Works association and of the Western Society of Engineers. His winter home was in Winter Park, Fla.

Arthur was the last of 9 children born in Owlden.
Now aged 86 he was born in 1892.
His mother remembered Tennyson in cloak & slouch Hat "Wide awake cap" striding along the footpath which then ran along the ditch between our fields & and crossed into Surrey.
Bicknell's Father was a woodsma to Sir Richard Garton, who looked over the Leigth Hill estate of which Owlden and it's land was then part.
